“For where two or three are gathered together in my Name there am I in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:20
January is the start of a new vision! Most people would use this cliche: “2020 new vision, new goals, new year”, but for Cultured’s theme this year, we’re looking to “double up!” We chose this theme because we want to see an overflow in our ministry and in our community. We want God to continue to be in the midst of our ministry as He has been.
Our first “jump off” for Cultured youth group was January 9th. Cultured was able to provide dinner made by one of our faithful volunteer pastor, Sherrell Bingham. She has dedicated her time and money and gives faithfully each week. After dinner, it was a time of fellowship and worship and in a new generation way. We had special music, games, and the Word was brought forth. At the jump off, we gave away over 50 sweatshirts with the Cultured logo on it to all the students and leaders that attended. The youth were thrilled and have been rocking the sweatshirts in their schools. Since that week we have maintained at least 35 students who come faithfully to the ministry.
Also in January, we have started a new ministry called Connect. Connect is a career development based program which connects inner city youth to their dream profession and someone in that career path. So far, we’ve had 12 students who are interested in the program! I am excited to see what God can do through this program as we help create opportunities for these kids that they would probably never have.
- Pray that we will meet our goal of raising $1,684 to send our kids to camp.
- Pray for the strength of our volunteers and leaders.
- Pray for the students’ growth in Christ.
I am thrilled that 10 of our students have been faithfully attending service at Emerald City Bible Church. They have asked for rides each Sunday. The church has been very welcoming, and the students love it. The students even called me for a ride to the prayer service on Wednesday. Each Sunday, we also want to be able to feed the students that attend service. Please pray as we try to get the church more involved in that. If you’re interested in providing a meal, please reach out to me!
With the students at church, we’ve also been able to have them participate in service and share their gifts with dance, rap, and song for the Lord. You have no idea how blessed I feel to see God at work and knowing the students want to draw near to God! This month has been filled with joy and love.
